Welcome to Hamza Dafterdar's Portfolio

Born on April 16, 2003, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, I have had a subconscious passion to the film industry. One of my earliest memories can be traced back to my toddler years during a family event when I annoyed my uncle by giving me the camera he was using to film. Since then, I've noticed that whenever I watch a TV show or a movie, I instinctively research the content and watch behind-the-scenes clips to better understand the working environment.

From 2014 until 2021, my school in Saudi Arabia (Jeddah Knowledge School; JKS) introduced a Film Studies class I enrolled in. It helped expand my knowledge of the industry, particularly in understanding the phases of production and different production methods, notably product placement.

In 2021, my passion for the film industry grew significantly. In February of that year, I launched an Instagram editing account called HMD Edits, primarily to showcase my editing work while learning the craft. At the time of writing, HMD Edits has expanded to YouTube and currently showcases the short films I've worked on while attending Central Film School. One month later, I developed a passion for writing, focusing on scripts and stories, primarily in the drama and comedy genres, daily. At the time of writing this portfolio, I am on hiatus from writing to allow for mental breaks and room for creativity.

After deciding to pursue a career in the industry, I enrolled at Central Film School in London in September 2022. There, my knowledge was further expanded, and I gained a deeper understanding of the creative production process and the intricacies of various production roles. During my time at Central Film School, I served as the 1st Assistant Director, Editor, Production Manager, and Director throughout the two-year course.
